Children

Sunday. Come to class prepared. Bring whatever books, pencils, paper, etc.
are necessary. If you are not sure what will be needed from the next class,
be sure to ask your teacher.

Observe
the center's dress code whenever you attend, as outlined below:
Boys

Only Long Shorts are allowed

2. If pants are worn, they must be loose and baggy.

Punctuality and Regularity
Be on time
for class, and keep absences to a minimum. The more you are late or absent,
the harder it will be to stay up-to-data with what is covered in class.
Avoid being absent unless you are sick. If you must miss a class, be sure to
contact your teacher by phone to ask what you missed. Then be fully prepared
for the next class.
Shoes
on Racks
Please be
sure to put your shoes on the shoe racks. Never wear shoes inside the
center.

fellow students.
Assembly
At 10:45
the students are expected to gather in the middle of the room for an
assembly. We start with a dua. At this time the Administrator welcomes the
children to school and goes over some of the current events going on in the
student's lives and/or in the center and world. On some occasions we have
guest speakers to address the students.

Salaat
All students are
expected to participate in the Salaat. We encourage the parents to arrive at
the time of Salaat to set the example for their children.
Personal property
If a student brings in
an item for sharing, make sure it is appropriate for the school. Any item
brought in for after school recreation has to be kept in a bag until after
school hours. If they are not put away for the duration of the school,
the items will be confiscated and returned only to the parent. Students
assume responsibility for loss or damage to their clothing, equipment or
books.
Lost and Found
Lost and found
collections are located in the lost and found bins. Please label student
clothing and periodically check the lost and found bins.
Preparation for
Class
The staff expects
students to come to class prepared with needed materials. Students should
always come to class with a loose-leaf binder with an adequate supply of
binder paper, two sharpened pencils and or two pens. In addition students
should have books and other required classroom supplies. Parents are
encouraged to check the binders regularly to keep in touch with what is
being taught and what homework has been assigned.
Progress Reporting
to Parents
Report cards are
issued only at the end of the year. But teachers are expected to test their
students regularly to assess their progress. The teachers will inform the
students of upcoming tests. The parents should stay in regular contact with
the teacher so that there are not any surprises at the end of the year.
Restrooms
We encourage the
students to use the restrooms during the non-class hours.
Supervision
We make an effort to
provide supervision on school grounds through out the school hours. We
ask that students not arrive earlier than 10:30 and leave no later than
1:30. Please be prompt in this aspect because our school volunteers also
lead busy lives. If there are some unforeseen circumstances, please notify
us at the school. Make sure you personally talk to one of the
administrators. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
Telephone use
The students are
discouraged from using the SABA phone. We ask that any pick up arrangements
be made before school. In dire need a student will need the permission of
one of the administrators to use the phone.
Disciplinary Policy
Earthquake and
Emergency Procedure
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
Sickness or Injury
Illness- if a student
becomes ill, the parents will be called to come and pick up the child.
Injury- if a student is injured at school, he/she should report it to one of
the school staff. Parents will be contacted if more than basic first aid is
required.
Emergency contacts
It is essential that
emergency cards are complete, signed and up to date in the school records.
Fill out your child's emergency card completely at the time of the
registration and then call the school with any change, especially phone
numbers.
Homework
Homework is an
integral part of the learning process. Teachers are encouraged to assign
homework. We understand the fact that children get quite a bit of homework
from regular school. Our policy is to not burden the children but to
reinforce the class work. We will keep the homework at a minimum. Please
emphasis the importance of school homework to your child.
Parent/Teacher
Meetings
Parent/teacher
meetings can be scheduled individually at the request of parent or teacher.
Safety
Please drive carefully
and slowly as you come into the parking lot. Often there are children
playing in the lot before and after the school hours. Expect the
unpredictability of children's movements. Ask your children to be alert to
incoming cars. Also advise your children to stay well within the SABA center
boundaries. For their safety, children are NOT allowed to wait outside of
the building.
Parents as
Volunteers
We encourage parental
assistance in all areas of our school: classroom substituting, field trips,
fundraisers, picnic etc. Please contact Br. Fareed , Br. Aslam, or Sister
Urooj if you want to become a volunteer.
Interruptions by
Parents
Please do not walk or
look into your child's class after it is in session. And for the little
ones, emphasize that they can not walk out of the class without teacher's
permission. If you need to consult with the teacher, it would be nice to
schedule a meeting before or after school hours. If you need to consult
with one of the administrators please use low voices. We strongly discourage
any other conversations in the building during the session of the school.
The parents talking added to the sound of teaching taking place becomes too
noisy for a classroom atmosphere. We appreciate your cooperation in this
matter.
NOTE TO
THE PARENTS
Parents
play a vital role in the success of their children's studies. To ensure that
each child reaches his/her full potential, please take the following steps:
1.
Keep your child's attendance regular and on time.
2. Make sure your child has had a good breakfast and a proper
night's sleep. Sleepy heads and hungry tummies do not function well in
class.
3. Pick up your children promptly after Zuharain Salat.
4. Please inform the school of any planned absences, at least a
week in advance. It is best to contact your child's teacher, so that you
can make note of what assignments will be missed.
