Al-Sadiq

Computer Literacy Program

Read in the name of your Lord Who created. He created man from a clot. Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, Who taught (to write) with the pen, Taught man what he knew not.

Holy Quran, Al-Alaq 96:1-5

Introduction

Al-Sadiq Computer Literacy Program was established by SABA in December 2000 for promoting computer literacy and to bridge the "Digital Divide" for Muslim community in the Bay Area. Internet and modern information systems have ushered an era of information revolution, creating new jobs and business opportunities. It has changed the atmosphere in which information is received and delivered and the way business is done. In today's world, the general consensus is that people who are limited in their knowledge of information technology skills will have limited opportunities for growth and may eventually be left behind.

Al-Sadiq Program provides progressive and stress free schooling in an Islamic environment for Muslim students. Students of all age groups are welcome to the Program, provided they meet the relevant prerequisites and eligibility requirements. Currently, the program is centered towards sharpening basic computer skills by offering short courses in the following areas.

· Computer and Internet Basics
· Programming Languages
· Computer Networking
· Computer System Administration

Presently the Program is staffed by SABA volunteers. Courses are offered in both Windows and Unix Operating Systems. To ensure that the whole Muslim community can benefit from this program and to keep the Program funded, a nominal tuition fee is charged to the students.

The Program currently accepts Muslim students only. Students are expected to wear Islamic attire and women must observe proper Islamic hijab. Shorts, tank tops etc. are strictly prohibited. We welcome any donations of time or money for the program. Please contact us if you are willing to teach and get rewarded by Allah (SWT).
